Brief
Step into a hidden underground world. A gondola ride through karst rock formations, crystal-clear water and that quiet cave hush. Transfer plus entry included.
The underground river of Coves de Sant Josep, in the municipality of La Vall d’Uixó (province of Castellón), is a natural cave that formed in the Middle Triassic from sea-bed limestone. The origin of its river and the cave’s end are still unknown.
It’s the longest cave in Castellón province, the second-longest in the Valencian Community, and — thanks to its constant water source — Europe’s longest navigable underground river.
The gondola tour runs about 45 minutes through chambers and narrow passages. Temperature inside is a steady 20 °C all year. Family-friendly. Bilingual guide on the way; inside the cave, the boatman gives the explanations (sometimes only in Spanish — your guide is happy to fill in English afterwards).
